This is where you learn to style food like a boss!
Steal these inside industry secrets to style food like a total pro.
Ever heard the saying “we eat with our eyes?” You just have to look at the schmillion #foodiegrams on social media to know that’s true. We just can’t help ourselves, we love to share those sensory experiences, and a gorgeous picture of food can be the perfect way to grab attention and inspire your followers.
Wonder who makes all the food creations on TV, product packaging, and in magazines or cookbooks look like a work of culinary art? (Seriously, who knew butter could do that).
Food stylists! They are are the artists behind it all and this special master class will give you the chance to learn the tricks of the trade and position you to achieve effortless looking dishes that are camera/blog/post-ready.
I throughly enjoyed the new class and loved the new handouts that came with it. I’ve been a graphic designer for the past 15 years and I’ve decided to take the leap and start my own business for both lifestyle/family photography and graphic design. I’m not sure I would be doing that without the classes and encouragement from you. I look at your portfolio and blog and they are both a major inspiration to me — I know if I keep pushing my boundaries and continue to soak up as much knowledge as possible, I can absolutely make this happen! -Dawn
Tara will teach you the tools and tricks you need in both a basic and extensive styling kit and share tips on the business side of food styling. Plus she’ll share the differences in the styles and techniques you may need for advertising, publishing or recreational posting.
You’ll learn the importance of prop selection, cooking for the camera angle, ingredient choices and preparation that go into making a food pic look magical. Tara will also show you methods for hot and cold drinks, the perfect slice of cake, photo-ready ice cream and how to get that exquisite drip of syrup off a ledge of pancakes on film.
Please note: you will need to have access to a moderately stocked kitchen to fully participate in this course, as well as:
— Bag or toolbox to assemble your own styling kit
— Camera (of any kind) to photograph your assignments to upload to the student gallery for Tara’s feedback
Learning is divided into 4 weeks and within those weeks you can learn at your own pace, anytime, anywhere you have internet. There are no set class times, though homework is due every Sunday night for instructor feedback. Students also have unlimited email access to the instructor for the duration of their course, to ask questions or get help.
